Millions of people have joined social media during the covid era and there is a mass increase in the use of entertainment sites to cope up with leisure time. The trends have changed vigorously and now the world has inclined towards fast and short entertainments to deal with the spare time. IMF says that the current interests of the people show that there is no returning back from this point and the interests of people have come to a point where it seems impossible to revive pre covid era. Moreover, covid has also changed the gender-based use of social media and now the interest of women in social media has inclined a lot, especially towards websites like Facebook and ticktock.

  • Its usage will increase in 2019 to 3.48billion users which is 9% of the total population.
  • In 2020, there were 3.80 billion social media users.
  •  And finally, in 2021 these users will increase to 4.48 billion which is 13% of our total population.
  • This means that in the Covid era the interest of people in different social media applications increased and this percentage increased from 7% to 13%.
